Collège du Léman is one of Switzerland’s most prestigious international day and boarding schools, located on the edge of Lake Geneva in view of the Swiss Alps. The school helps students to find their place in the world by inspiring individual growth, academic excellence, and global citizenship. It is an international community with more than 150 nationalities amongst the 1800-day and 250 boarding students. They come together on a green, village-like campus covering 8 hectares.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

Encouraging and supporting students to enjoy and make the most of the learning opportunities offered by the school and, specifically, to teach Visual Arts to High School students. The role includes teaching IB and AP classes and becoming a homeroom advisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote the school’s mission and vision by assisting students to discover and develop individual strengths, make powerful, life-long global connections, and be their best selves.
  • Contribute to the creation of a caring and inclusive learning environment in which students can flourish, ensuring that each student’s health and well-being are given the necessary priority.

  • Visual Arts teacher:
    - Creates and formulates curriculum plans to teach art. concepts with objectives, assessment criteria and tasks.
    - Engages and teaches mixed ability classes from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
    - Works closely with other staff members to help manage curriculum, interdisciplinary lesson plans and school trips.
    - Implements and executes Art Exhibitions and displays on campus and beyond the school campus where necessary to best showcase students’ work. Coordinates all activities pertaining to this show.
    - Follows up on students' performance with feedback through group and individual assessment. 
    - Coordinates and monitors students with special needs and learning difficulties, liaising with counsellors as needs be.
  • Advisor role: 
    - Monitors progress of a group of students, both academic and personal, ensuring personalised student wellbeing throughout the year.
    - Follows up with action plans put in place, communicating with parents and/or house parents.

  • Carry out other duties as assigned. 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

All candidates must be holders of a relevant university degree and a teaching qualification. You should possess a strong knowledge of Art history, theory knowledge and personal art practice (portfolio).
Previous experience teaching high-school students programme is mandatory. The ability to work in a range of art media both 2D, 3D, ceramic, lens-based, digital media using technology (such as digital painting, 3D printer, photoshop, etc) and emerging media, is expected. You will be able to collaborate closely with a team of dedicated colleagues. English is your mother tongue, or you have an equivalent level. A good knowledge of French is an asset. 

CONDITIONS

The position is to be filled from January 2024 at an approximate activity rate of 67%. For work permit reasons, we can only consider Swiss and European applications.
