MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 
The successful applicant’s role will be to encourage and support students to enjoy and make the most of the learning opportunities offered by the school and, specifically, to teach mathematics across a range of programmes in High School. Previous experience of teaching mathematics in the IGCSE, IB Diploma and/or a High School American program is an advantage, as is experience of teaching in boarding schools. The ability to use and integrate ICT in the curriculum is expected. The role includes the possibility of becoming a homeroom advisor. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The mathematics teacher will:

  • Promote the school’s mission and vision by assisting students to discover and develop individual strengths, make powerful, life-long global connections, and be their best selves. 
  • Contribute to the creation of a caring and inclusive learning environment in which students can flourish, ensuring that each student’s health and well-being are given the necessary priority. 
  • Embody and promote Collège du Léman’s RISE values of Respect, Internationalism, Spirit, and Excellence. 
  • Use and develop the existing resources to teach mathematics in the Anglophone High School, possibly including IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), IB (International Baccalaureate), Advanced Placement (AP) and regular mathematics courses.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that all lessons are harmonized across the grade level.
  • Grade students as per the school guidelines and enter grades into the on-line gradebook.
  • Write school reports as per guidelines and adhere to the timelines for completion.
  • Supervise Extended Essays within the IBDP programme if required.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned. 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Qualifications for this position include a relevant university degree and teaching qualification. It is essential to have some experience in teaching mathematics at the High School level. 

Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in teaching within the IB and/or IGCSE programmes, or AP mathematics. Experience with EAL students and in an international school setting is highly valued. Familiarity with being a homeroom advisor, teaching in Middle School, and working in a boarding school are advantageous.

Candidates are required to demonstrate perfect command of English, along with the ability to effectively integrate ICT into the curriculum. A good rapport with students, characterized by a firm yet fair approach, is crucial. Strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal, are also essential. Knowledge of French is preferred but not mandatory.

In addition to these qualifications and skills, the successful candidate should exhibit the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work efficiently under tight deadlines.
